The much-anticipated Skyliner transportation system has launched at Walt Disney World! Connecting resorts, Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century and Art of Animation with Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT parks, the Skyliner promises a fun and convenient transportation option.
I had the chance to ride on Sunday. We rode from Disney's Hollywood Studios to Caribbean Beach Resort, which serves as a central hub for the Skyliner. From there, we switched lines to ride to EPCOT.
My verdict? Disney has knocked it out of the park! The cars are spacious, comfortable and convenient. The breeze kept things cool. We loved our ride! The cars continually load, so the wait is not long to be on your way. Each car holds up to ten people on two benches.
The downside? If the cars stop, and it's very hot out, guests may be uncomfortable until the gondola's start again. The other negative that I saw was a huge pedestrian traffic jam leaving EPCOT after IllumiNations. Normally, only guests of the EPCOT area resorts (The Boardwalk, Beach / Yacht Club and the Swan and Dolphin) exit out of International Gateway. Now, guests wishing to ride the Skyliner back to Caribbean Beach, Pop or Art of Animation are also exiting through this small space. It looks like that exit is being expanded, so I am hopeful that this will soon get better for guests.
