How a 9 day cruise around the Greek Islands turned into a 3 day visit to Rome is still hard for me to believe but I enjoyed every part of it! The story begins with a cruise planned by a friend and two other friends telling her she couldn’t go alone. So three very excited ladies left from Logan Airport to begin an amazing 2 week journey.
We had thankfully arranged car service from the airport directly to the Comfort Hotel Bolivar which was up a tiny alley that our driver found quickly. The hotel was priceless with open air windows and shutters and a breakfast dining area on the top floor with a gorgeous view of Rome. What a way to start our day and the meal was delicious.
In planning this trip we investigated a Rome Hop-On Hop-Off Bus ticket which allowed us to visit the Vatican and its museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum with ease and minimal pain in our feet.
We did take a side trip to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps. If you ask my friends my goal was to find The Disney Store in Rome and I did.
One of the experiences that was wonderful was to wander the backroads and alleys finding local restaurants and people. The people were kind and even with a distinct language barrier they made our trip exciting.
In our short three days we arrived, toured, ate and ultimately boarded our cruise ship for the Islands which I will share in my next few blogs.
