One of my favorite things to do at Disney is try different restaurants, especially character dining. Storybook Dining at Artist Point is a new character dining experience at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. There you are taken into the Enchanted forest. This restaurant is very well theme with lights on all the trees. The menu is a storybook and the napkin has an apple with the characters’ signature. There is a tree display in the middle of the table that is for the appetizers and the desserts to sit on.
Your meal comes with three shared appetizers, entrée, four shared desserts, and a drink. This is all included in the price except for specialty drinks and cocktails. We did not get any specialty drinks or cocktails but from the looks at other tables, they were themed very well. The price adults is $55+ and $33+ for children.
For appetizer you get a Mushroom Bisque, Hunter’s Terrine, and a Wicked Shrimp Cocktail. The Hunter’s Terrine was chicken, black truffle, stone fruit preserve, and house-made pickles. The shrimp cocktail was a little shrimp salad with soy, miso, avocado, and thai chili. The mushroom was our favorite out of the appetizers. The others were interesting but not bad.
The entrée was the only thing you had to pick unless you got a drink besides a coke product. We both got the Brother’s Grimm Roasted Chicken that came with herb-crusted potatoes, fire-roasted petite squash, and golden raisins. The chicken was amazing and it was plated so beautifully.
For the desserts, you get Miner’s Treasures, Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie, and a ‘Poison’ Apple. The Miner’s Treasures is a sponge cake with chocolate gems and berry panna cotta. It is top with a Dopey hat. The gooseberry pie is like an apple pie with meringue. And the poison apple is a dark chocolate-apple mousse with a sour center although the sour center is barely there with how sweet the mousse is. My favorite out of the three was probably the Miner’s Treasures. It reminded me of a dirt cake. The gooseberry pie was a close second.
Then comes the final gift. The waiter brings out a box with the Hunter’s Gift to the Queen. This one was all about presentation and our waiter loved bringing it out. It is full of crackled maple popcorn and ganache heart. This dining is definitely one of the best when it comes to food. You get so much food, especially dessert.
Dopey, Grumpy, and Snow White greet you at your table then after your meal, you go meet with the Evil Queen. We had just gotten dessert when our first character appeared. This was very unusual as all the other character dining, the characters were spaced out. This was the first dining where I meet all characters in a row with no break in between. But other than that, the interactions were great.
Dopey popped up behind the tree next to our table. He was so excited to see the dessert and pointed excitedly to his hat perched on top of the pudding. But he did not like the idea of the poison apple and backed away. Grumpy got very annoyed with how slow the flash was on the phone. Snow White loved my Minnie Ears. The Evil Queen tells you when to come to her and when she’s down talking and taking pictures, she will let you know. She asked if I stole my jeweled ears from the mines. Hers and Dopey’s interactions were probably my favorite.
Overall, this was a great dining experience. While a bit pricey, I think the food was worth it. I just wish our character interactions were spaced out more. The restaurant is gorgeous and it’s a truly magical experience.
