We spent two days on Cozumel on our most recent cruise. Cozumel is a port where you can simply go to the nearby beaches, go swimming with dolphins, explore both the new international cruise port shopping or go downtown and shop there for crafts and merchandise made in Mexico.
We chose to do the excursion Amazing Race Cozumel. Although based on the current TV reality show the Amazing Race, this is mostly a scavenger hunt where you decipher clues and figure out where the next stop is to get the next clue. Our guides were wonderful and NO one got lost! The clues themselves were creative, but not too difficult. You did have to think! and definitely hunt! We walked all over downtown Cozumel and at those stops where we received the next clues, the island residents were amazingly warm and friendly! We ended up at a lovely fun bar where each person on this excursion got a free drink, and then transportation back to their ship.
Although we docked at the newest cruise terminal, it's a short cab ride to the downtown area. You will also find Dolphinaris--where you can swim with dolphins among other things, hotels and beaches on the way to the port in the downtown area. There are 3 terminals where ships can dock, the two days we were there, up to 8 ships were in port at the same time. It can get crowded! These are only a couple of the many fun and exciting tour excursions you can book on your western carribean cruise, either on Disney Cruise line or the many other lines that sail in the Carribbean!
