My husband and I have made many trips to Walt Disney World over the years, the first of which was our honeymoon. We don’t have children so I am often asked why we keep returning to Disney World so often: “isn’t it just a bunch of theme parks designed for families and kids?”
It’s true that Disney World is the perfect destination to create priceless family memories. There is nothing as heartwarming as watching a child meet their favorite Princess and interact with their favorite Disney characters, but, we are living proof that adults without kids can also have an amazing vacation experience at Disney World. Let me tell you why!
Let’s start with the Resorts.
Do you have to stay in a Princess or Pirate themed room? Well sure you can if you want to, but did you know that Disney World Resorts rival those of some of the most popular and posh resort destinations? You can plan a romantic honeymoon or getaway at any number of uniquely themed resorts – the choice is yours! Immerse yourself in the Victorian elegance of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa; experience the South Pacific at the Polynesian Village Resort; stay in the midst of an African Wildlife Preserve at Animal Kingdom Lodge; envelope yourself in the cozy atmosphere of America’s National Parks at the Wilderness Lodge; experience the sights and sounds of New Orleans at Port Orleans-Riverside or French Quarter – the choices are endless!
Want to stay active while on vacation?
Activity choices are numerous and are available for all activity levels. Play golf at several on-property courses, some of which are worthy of being included in PGA tournaments or take a tamer approach and play some mini-golf. Tennis courts, walking, hiking, and jogging trails are available at many locations around the World. Take a horseback ride or play some archery in Fort Wilderness; bowl at Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Disney Springs; participate in one of several levels of runDisney Marathon events at select times of the year.
Are swimming, watersports, boating and fishing your pleasure?
In addition to the pools at your resort and the two Water Parks on-property, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and fishing excursions (catch and release) are available. Rent your own boat, Jet Ski, canoe, or take a guided excursion. Book an evening cruise and dessert party excursion and watch the fireworks from the lagoon.
Looking for stress relievers & relaxation?
Visit the fitness center at your resort. Pamper yourself with one of several spa treatments at a Senses Spa located in the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs Resorts. Couples massages and spa day packages are also available!
Do you like fine dining, casual dining, or both?
There are so many dining choices around the World! Reserve a romantic dinner at the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Resort complete with a prime view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks; a 7 course meal at Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian Resort; or an expertly prepared meal at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort. Dine around the globe and enjoy the ethnic cuisines in the countries of Epcot and around the resorts; have a Rootin’ Tootin’ time at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner show at Pioneer Hall; enjoy interactive Character meals where your favorite characters visit your table just to see you! There is something to satisfy every palate and desired dining experience.

Look no farther than Disney Springs! Shop at prestigious shops like Coach; Alex and Ani; Under Armour; Sanuk; and more. Enjoy the nightlife at a variety of clubs and lounges like the House of Blues; Dockside Margaritas; or Stargazers Bar. Visit the Boardwalk for more nightlife experiences.

How do you choose which resort to stay at if you want to participate in multiple activities & dining choices? Not a problem - you have access to all these dining and activity options while you are a guest at a Walt Disney Resort, regardless of whether they are offered at your resort or not (with the exception of resort specific pools).
Oh – and don’t forget that you still want to enjoy the theme parks! This is where you can let your inner child out! Go ahead - take a ride on the Carousel; meet Mickey and Minnie and a variety of your favorite characters; sing and dance along with the parades and street shows; ride the most daring attractions; pose for romantic pictures in front of Cinderella’s castle and other iconic backdrops around the parks. Immerse yourself in the magic of Disney and enjoy the fireworks and nighttime spectaculars presented each evening in the parks. You can’t help but have fun!
