Happy Birthday, Hollywood Studios!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrated its 30th birthday on May 1, 2019. The occasion was celebrated with a parade down Hollywood Boulevard, with grand marshals Mickey and Minnie leading the way. A new logo for the park was also unveiled. The logo features Mickey, Woody, and BB-8.
A new Toy Story Land restaurant – Roundup Rodeo BBQ was announced during the event as well as a new Toy Story Mania Merchandise Shop. The merchandise shop will open later this month at the exit of Toy Story Mania. An opening date for the new restaurant has not yet been announced.
The celebration for Hollywood Studios concluded with the unveiling of the Wonderful World of Animation projection show on the façade of the Chinese Theatre.
Walt Disney World
A new Signature Celebration Package became available for guests visiting Cinderella’s Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom. The package includes reserved viewing for the Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular in the West Plaza Garden and the After Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. Cinderella and Prince Charming will greet guests when they arrive at Cinderella Castle and each guest will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or other specialty beverage. Guests will also receive a commemorative box of Cinderella inspired confections. The package is only offered during one seating at Cinderella’s Royal Table and availability is limited. The cost is $199 plus tax and gratuity for adults and $169 plus tax and gratuity for children. This package can be booked by calling 407-WDW-DINE or by visiting DisneyWorld.com
Fancy Nancy made her debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on April 30th. Guests can greet Nancy at the park’s Animation Courtyard. Nancy will also join Disney Junior friends Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Roadster Goofy at the Disney Junior Play N Dine at Hollywood and Vine restaurant.
For the first time in 14 years, an all new Halloween Fireworks Spectacular will debut during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party, replacing the previous Hallowishes show. The show will take guests on a trick-or-treating adventure where Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy find themselves drawn into a mysterious haunted house where the encounter skeletons, ghosts and Disney villains. The show will feature lasers, projection effects, and spectacular fireworks. The fun begins on August 16th and runs on select nights through November 1st.
Disney introduced a new Cinderella pony named “Lilly” this past week. She is the first white Shetland pony ever born at Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Her parents “Lady” and “Ferdinand” are ponies that pull the iconic Cinderella coach for Disney’s Fairytale Weddings. Lilly will likely follow in her parents footsteps in a couple of years and will train to pull the carriage. In the meantime, guests can visit Lilly at the show pasture barn at Fort Wildreness for a few hours each day.
A new baby gorilla named Grace was born at Animal Kingdom on Wednesday April 30th. Guests may be able to catch a glimpse of Grace on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail along with her parents Kashata and Gino. Celebration cupcakes will be available to purchase at Tamu Tamu Refreshments as well.
In anticipation of the upcoming Aladdin live-action movie, an all new “Wish Granted” donut has been released at Sunshine Tree Terrace in the Magic Kingdom. The glazed donut is coated in gold sugar and topped with a chocolate lamp piece and blue cotton candy and sells for $4.99.
Disneyland and California Adventure
Disneyland will celebrate May the 4th Be With You day with the return of Hyperspace Mountain. In addition, Captain Phasma and her Stormtroopers will partake in the March of the First Order. There will be special photo opportunities in the Starcade. Galactic Grill and Alien Pizza Planet will have star Wars inspired snacks and meals such as the Dark Side Chicken Sandwich and Outer Rim Pasta. Novelty steins, sippers, and popcorn buckets will also be available for purchase.
Astro Orbiter reopened after an extended refurbishment.
Mickey’s Philharmagic opened at Disney’s California Adventure Park on April 26th. The magical adventure featuring Donald Duck and a number of classic Disney films can now be enjoyed on both coasts.
