Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
This week’s big news is the announcement of the opening dates of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The all new, fully immersive experience will open on December 5, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando (Which is, incidentally, Walt’s birthday!)
Over in California, the experience will open to guests on Friday, January 17, 2020.
Walt Disney World
Guests are invited to celebrate the upcoming live action feature The Lion King with the voices of Young Simba (JD McCrary) and Young Nala (Shahadi Wright Joseph) this coming Saturday July 13, 2019 during the 3 P.M. Festival of Fantasy parade at Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Following the parade, the young stars will continue on to Animal Kingdom Park to continue the celebration.
Disney’s newly reimagined Coronado Springs Resort opened to guests this past week. In addition to sprucing up the existing space, the all new Gran Destino Tower has opened with spacious accommodations and new food and drink options for guests to enjoy.
Buses at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida are being fitted with new wraps that feature the sensational six: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto. Buses are also being fitted with new seats, floors, and USB ports for charging phones and other electronics on board.
The new Takumi-Tei Restaurant in opened to guests at the Japan Pavilion at World Showcase in Epcot. Menu highlights include wagyu beef, sushi, sashimi, unique desserts, signature cocktails, premium sake and more. A prix-fixe multi-course tasting menu and chef’s table experience are also available.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Conservation Station inside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park has re-opened. The attraction now features The Animation Experience, an instructor-led animation experience where guests can learn to draw some of Disney’s most famous animal creations. FastPass+ and stand-by are available for the attraction.
Disneyland
“Mickey and Friends Band-Tastic Cavalcade” will start a limited run at the Disneyland Resort in California beginning on July 18, 2019. The procession will run along the parade route on Main Street U. S. A. twice daily through August 1, 2019.
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line was awarded Travel + Leisure Magazine’s World’s Best award as the top Ocean Cruise Line carrying more than 2,200 passengers. The honor was awarded by guests who selected the cruise line on such criteria as service, food, staterooms, destinations, excursions and value.
Disney Cruise Line has announced additional sailings on the Disney Magic for the 2020 holiday season. The sailings run on various dates between November 12, 2020 – December 30, 2020. The itinerary will be either Bahamian or Caribbean and will sail out of Miami, Florida. All of the new sailings prior to December 26 during this timeframe will be Very Merrytime themed cruises.
