Disney News Roundup



It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas/Winter Holiday season at Disney as there were a number of new holiday related new stories this week. Let’s jump right in and read all about it (and a few non-holiday related stories as well)


Walt Disney World


Guests who wish to spend Christmas at the Walt Disney World Resort are invited to experience the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package. From December 21 – 26th, guests who book this exclusive vacation package will be treated to some amazing offerings including:


Dec. 21, 2019– EXCLUSIVE nighttime access to experience Avatar Flight of Passage, Na’vi River Journey and Expedition Everest. Plus catch an exclusive showing of the park’s new Rivers of Light: We Are One show.


Dec. 22, 2019– Celebrate the season with tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park.


Dec. 23 or Dec. 24, 2019 (one night per reservation)– EXCLUSIVE reserved viewing area at World View Plaza to watch Epcot Forever, an all-new nighttime spectacular.


Dec. 25, 2019– An Ultimate Disney Christmas gift delivered to your room.


Dec. 26, 2019– Bid a fond farewell


Pricing for this special package will vary by selected resort accommodations.


A number of attractions will be updated with new holiday overlays to celebrate the winter holiday season. Tomorrowland Speedway will transform into a festive freeway. Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor will debut a new holiday themed show as part of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Space Mountain will feature a new holiday launch and festive music. The Mad Tea Party will feature new holiday lights and music.


“Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” show will make its debut this year alongside returning favorites, “A Frozen Holiday Wish”, “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration,” “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas,” Club Tinsel, the Disney Junior Jingle Jam, and “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.”


Over at Epcot, Lisa Ling (The View, National Geographic), has been added to the list of confirmed narrators for Epcot’s Candlelight Processional. The list of confirmed narrators so far includes:

  • Neil Patrick Harris – 12/2-12/5

  • Whoopi Goldberg – 12/6-12/7

  • Gary Sinise – 12/13-12/15

  • Pat Sajak – 12/16-12/18

  • Steven Curtis Chapman – 12/22-12/24

  • Edward James Olmos – 12/25-12/26

  • NEW: Lisa Ling – 12/29-12/30

Guests can book a dining package at a participating Epcot restaurant for this moving event and obtain guaranteed seating.


At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! and Sunset Seasons Greetings will return beginning on November 8th and run through January 5, 2020.



A number of special events have been announced for guests who want to welcome in 2020 at the Walt Disney World Resort. Options include:


· Felize Ano Nuevo: A New Year’s Eve Party at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resor

· Mezzanotte at Topolino’s: An Italian Masquerade at Disney’s Riviera Resort

· Elegant Evening Under the Stars at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

· Countdown to Midnight: A New Year’s Celebration at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

· Ink & Paint Club at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

· Pixar Party: A New Year’s Celebration at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

· Disney’s BoardWalk Countdown to 2020 at Atlantic Dance Hall

· New Year’s Eve at Flying Fish

· A New Year’s Eve Celebration at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

· Victoria & Albert’s New Year’s Celebration at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

If you’re not quite ready for winter and instead want to focus on Halloween, some new additions to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party have been announced. A Tomorrowland unit featuring The Incredibles, Edna Mode, and Buzz Lightyear will debut as part of “Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade.” The party will run on select nights at the Magic Kingdom theme park from August 16th, 2019 to November 1, 2019.


Descendants fans can celebrate the upcoming “Descendants 3” at the Disney DescenDANCE Party at the Marketplace Stage at Disney Springs. The show will run from July 26, 2019 to August 11, 2019. The Descendants will then move over to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café at the Magic Kingdom theme park beginning on August 16th as part of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.


Disney filed permits for a new project titled “Grand Floridian to MK Walkway.” The new walkway is expected to connect guests staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney's Polynesian Resorts to the Magic Kingdom.


Disneyland


Disneyland welcomed its One Millionth rider on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run last week!


Guests at the Disneyland theme park and California Adventure theme park can experience the holidays beginning on November 8, 2019. Sleeping Beauty Castle will transform into Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle. Seasonal favorites, including “Believe…in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular, “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, and transformations of “It’s a Small World” and “The Haunted Mansion Holiday” will once again enchant guests.


Over at Disney’s California Adventure park, “World of Color- Season of Light” will dazzle guests with amazing lights, lasers, water, fire and hundreds of fountains that bring the world of Disney animation to life. In addition, Festival of Holidays will return – celebrating Christmas/Navidad, Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day. Cars Land will feature Joy to the Whirl and Jingle Jamboree.


The spirit of the season will run through January 6th, 2020.
