My apologies!! We have had a few days of traveling and settling in from Nashville to Pigeon Forge since last I wrote. We left Nashville on Thursday on peaceful Route 40 arriving at our second Fairfield Suites located in Kodak, TN. I have to say these hotels remain some of my favorites because they are clean, follow Covid protocols and have some great breakfast food to get you on the road. On our arrival we were hungry and found a Chop House Restaurant right across the parking lot. Such great food, service and ambiance. We chased down these great meals with homemade ice cream at the Chocolate Monkey before settling in for a good night’s sleep o begin our Pigeon Forge adventure.
Leaving the Fairfield Suites we headed straight in on one road to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge for some hearty breakfast at The Skyliner diner. This restaurant is not only cute it has great food and service. We also stopped by The Christmas Place for browsing and shopping in what is labeled…”the premier destination for Christmas…” everything. From there we checked into the Club Wyndham Smoky Mountains to our top floor room with an amazing view of the mountains. Ready now to head into a busy Saturday.
Saturday met us with a bit of a mountain chill in the air which warmed nicely to the 60s by noon. We started with a trip down The Parkway which is the main thoroughfare between Sevierville, Pigeon Forge straight to. Gatlinburg. We made a trip to a doll and quilt shop called Lidl Dollys with an amazing assortment of quilts and dolls. A couple of us journeyed to Gatlinburg which was submerged with people attending the Great Smoky Easter Arts & Crafts Fair while a couple more headed to the Island in Pigeon Forge for food, shopping and The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and other rides. We were able to sit in rocking chairs surrounding a fountain with music for a few moments and I, of course, found my second Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen for some shopping. I did sneak in to Margaritaville for lunch. I did take a little break back at the room prior to an evening out.
Our night included a show called Country Tonite with some immensely talented people including some amazing children just cutting their teeth in the business. With another day under our belt we went to catch some sleep for Easter Sunday.
We began our day slowly with a couple our friends heading to the lunch show of The Hatfields and the McCoys. The show as well as all of the venues is also following Covid protocols making guests feel comfortable an enjoy each moment. A few of us wandered up and down the beautiful mountains with a quick trip for lunch at Little Tokyo Restaurant and back for a home cooked meal a our condo before preparing for tomorrow’s events which I promise to share quicker.
