Magical Memories Monday

While we can't travel right now, our team is sharing some of the magical memories we have made on our vacations in the past. Enjoy!

Each year in high school, my school choir had the privilege of participating in Epcot's Candlelight Processional during the Christmas season. If you're not familiar with the Candlelight Processional, its a mass choir compromised of Disney cast members (the green "tree" in the center), Disney's Voices of Liberty (the red in the front), and various choirs from around the country (the gold). The choirs, mostly from high schools, send in their audition videos by early September and are notified of their acceptance a few weeks later. The mass choir is accompanied by an orchestra, singing creative arrangements of traditional Christmas songs, while a celebrity narrator reads the Christmas story from the book of Luke (followed by some original narration).

These trips with my school family are what sparked my love for Disney, specifically Walt Disney World. The parks are always magical, but add in the sparkling lights and decor of the holiday season and it just takes it over the top! Mix that with some of your closest friends, and you've got memories to last a lifetime!

This photo is actually from the year after I graduated. My freshman year of college started out with a phone call from my previous choir director, asking if I would film the audition video that year, and then also help plan the trip and chaperone if they were chosen! Of course I said yes! The weekend we were scheduled to sing, the celebrity narrator was Monique Coleman. That name may not right a bell to you, but if you were a young teen girl when High School Musical came out, you probably know exactly who that is! I won't lie, I was pretty excited about that!

I've had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World during the Christmas season many times and have seen narrators such as Trace Adkins, Phylicia Rashad, Haley Joel Osment, and Neil Patrick Harris. Its no secret that the Candlelight Processional holds a very special place in my heart, and I can't wait to take my girls to Disney at Christmas to experience it one day!
