Palm Springs, once the exclusive playground of Hollywood's elite in the 1940s and 50s, has transformed into a vibrant desert getaway accessible to all, no matter the season. This lively city offers a diverse range of activities, from breathtaking aerial tram rides to exploring unique national parks, and boasts a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Get ready to discover why Palm Springs is the perfect destination for your next escape.

Beat the Heat with the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
One of the highlights of a Palm Springs visit is a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. This two-and-a-half-mile, ten-minute journey up Chino Canyon takes you to Mt. San Jacinto State Park. The change in elevation brings a dramatic drop in temperature, offering a refreshing escape from the desert heat. For instance, on one particular day, the temperature in Palm Springs (at 470 ft. elevation) was a scorching 107 degrees, while at the top of the tram (8500 ft. elevation), it was a pleasant 69 degrees.
At the Mountain Station, you'll find two restaurants, observation decks, a natural history museum, two theaters, a gift shop, and various hiking trails. It's an ideal way to enjoy cooler temperatures and stunning views.
Explore the Unique Landscape of Joshua Tree National Park
Just an hour's drive from Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park offers a completely different desert experience. If visiting in the summer, it's crucial to start your day early to avoid the intense heat; signs in the park even frequently warn visitors to "Do NOT die today".
Joshua Tree National Park is unique as it encompasses two distinct deserts: the high Mojave Desert and the low Colorado Desert. The iconic Joshua Tree, which is actually part of the agave family rather than a true tree, is native only to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico.
A Welcoming Oasis: Palm Springs' LGBTQ+ Friendly Vibe

Palm Springs is renowned for its inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly environment. The city truly embraces authenticity, and experiencing it during Pride Month is especially memorable. A notable and highly recommended stop is the Trixie Motel, where wearing pink is practically a must!
Year-Round Appeal
Whether you're looking to escape the winter chill or find a cool retreat in the summer, Palm Springs can be enjoyed year-round. Winter temperatures typically range from the mid-sixties to mid-seventies, creating perfect conditions for golfing or hiking.
