If you arrive to Orlando via airplane, be sure to utilize Disney Magical Express. Just grab your carry-on and forget about your checked bags. They will arrive in your room shortly after you arrive to your resort (as long as you have attached your yellow tags). Luggage delivery is available for flights arriving before 10:00 pm. It may take several hours to receive your bags, so, if you have plans to go out for a nice meal, or just a dip in the pool, you might consider packing those items in your carry on.
Disney transportation boasts a very extensive bus system that will take you to any of the parks, including the water parks and Disney Springs. The bus stops are generally located close to the reception desk or gift shop at your resort. There are a few resorts that have multiple stops due to the size of the resort. Some of the bus stops at the resorts are not covered so on those hot Florida summer days, be prepared. Recently, Disney has added arrival time boards so you can always wait it out inside. You can also check bus arrival times on your My Disney Experience app. Most of the parks and Disney Springs do have covered bus stops, so after a long day park hopping you have some cover if it starts to rain.
Please stand clear of the doors! Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas! It has inspired its own memes, merchandise and has become a favorite for Disney World visitors. The iconic Disney Monorail services the Contemporary, Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian and the Disney Ticket & Transportation Center(the TTC). It has become a favorite ride for most people that visit Disney World. You can get great views of Magic Kingdom and take a ride around the Seven Seas Lagoon. And is a great way to get to your dining reservations at those resorts.
But what about EPCOT? The Disney monorail has a separate line (the Express Monorail) to take you from EPCOT to the Ticket & Transportation Center. From there you can hop on another Monorail and take a short ride to Magic Kingdom. If you are not in a hurry and looking to take it a little slower, hop on the ferry and take a beautiful and relaxing ride across Seven Seas Lagoon over to the Ferry Landing just outside the Magic Kingdom gates.
Are you trying to get from EPCOT to Disney’s Hollywood Studios? You could take the bus or you can take this little known boat trip that is sure to be more enjoyable than the aforementioned bus. Yes, there is a boat that will take you from Hollywood Studios to EPCOT. If you have ever stayed at Swan and Dolphin, Disney’s Boardwalk Villas, The Yacht Club or Disney’s Beach Club Resort, then you have surly relaxed on this boat ride before. Keep in mind, even if you aren’t a guest of these resorts, the boat ride is still free.
This Fall, Disney will introduce service on the NEW Disney Skyliner. This gondola system will connect guests at Pop Century, Art of Animation and Caribbean Beach Resorts with EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
There are a few negatives when it comes to comes to the transportation at Disney World. Firstly, it isn’t exactly easy to get from one resort to another using the bus system. During our last trip, when attending a resort tour, we had to go to a park or the TTC, then catch another bus to the next resort.
There are a couple ways around this. First is ride sharing. You won’t have too much trouble finding these services around any of the parks or resorts. It costs us around $10 each way from Pop Century to the Beach Club. The other way is to call for a Minnie Van. However, it is a little more reassuring to call a Minnie Van because they are a part of Disney Transportation.
The second negative to transportation at Walt Disney World is the Magical Express. The Magical Express is completely awesome when you are arriving for your vacation. However, it’s dubbed the “Tragical Express” when you are leaving because it signifies the end of another magical vacation. But just remember two things. One, the next time you visit Walt Disney World, you will be greeted by the Magical Express. And two, please stand clear of the doors.
