Sangria University Anyone?

SANGRIA UNIVERSITY

They say you are never too old to learn, well our contributor, Melissa Lenox, taught me all about a new class in Walt Disney World that I had no idea about. I hope you will all enjoy this article as much as I have.

Back in June I was able to participate in Sangria University at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The class lasts one hour and takes place only on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm at Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Villa del Lago. If you are a fan of sangria or wine, I highly recommend it! It’s a hidden gem that not a lot of people know about.

The class is taught by a Sangria Sommelier and includes a flight of four of their house-made sangrias along with an appetizer. When I attended, it was chips and guacamole, and the tastings were in a regular wine glass so that was a generous tasting. It was fun to taste all four and choose our favorites. The Sangria flight included:

  • Sparkling Sangria – Cava sparkling wine and peach liqueur

  • Blanco Sangria – Macabo Wine, Torres Magdala Naranjas del Mediterraneo, St Germain Elderflower, Passion Fruit and lemon

  • Rosada Sangria – Garnacha Rose Wine, Puerto de Indias Strawberry Gi, Apricot Brandy, raspberry and apple

  • Tinta Sangria – Garnacha Rose Wine, Torres Magdala Naranjas del Mediterraneo and orange

We also learned about the history of Sangria and how it relates to Walt Disney World. The final component in order to earn our diploma was to make our own glass of Sangria choosing the ingredients from a list they provided. They let us choose between red or white wine, a liqueur and adding in juice and fruit of our choosing.

I think it’s a fantastic value for the price and a lot of fun! When we attended, I saw varied types of guests; a bachelorette party, couples and even a family with a small child so it doesn’t need to be an adults-only event. Bring the entire family!

If interested call 407-939-1004 or email wdw.Sangria.University@disney.com. The cost per guest is $45. Reservations open up around 60 days out, similar to other dining on Walt Disney World property.
