Nestled to the right and behind of Disney’s Days of Christmas is a hidden dining gem that is easy to overlook but worth discovering. Wolfgang Puck Express is a counter service restaurant from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck Express. The restaurant features homestyle favorites with California influences for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
My husband and I frequently come here for dinner on a night when we don’t feel like making an Advanced Dining Reservation, but want a sit-down experience. Guests order at the counter and are given a placard with a number and your meal is then brought to your chosen table. Unlike most other counter service spots, food is served on real plates and you are given real silverware and linen napkins.
The pizza is a notch above the standard theme park fare. Offerings include basics such as cheese to fancier options like Margherita, barbecue chicken, and pesto and goat cheese. Of course, they will accommodate your requests for additional toppings and, on this occasion, we had pepperoni with mushroom. The crust was thin with crispy edges that were not overcooked, perfect for my liking.
My husband’s personal favorite is the spaghetti and meatballs. This is not a dish he normally orders out as he has been very spoiled by his mother’s homemade meatballs his entire life, but Wolfgang Puck is the exception as he adores these tasty morsels of happiness. These are served with a light tomato sauce that has a hint of fresh basil that is surprisingly light.
The menu also includes salads, sandwiches and other homestyle options such as oven roasted salmon, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and rotisserie chicken. Dessert is standard for counter service; including cookies, brownies, and rice crispy treats. The unique dessert offering here is frozen yogurt with a topping of your choice which you can serve yourself from the machine.
